"This is a wonderful, small, portable, evaporative cooler! It is not advertised as an air conditioner and it is not an air conditioner. Imagine if your cool mist humidifier and a small portable fan had a baby, this is what you would get! I live in the western region of the US and it is very hot and dry here in the summer. We have central air conditioning, but our upstairs bedroom tends to be the warmest room in the house. I put this next to my bed so it blows cool air on me through the night. If you fill the little tank with ice water, the air is nice and cool. My husband thinks it is kind of noisy, but I think it sounds about the same as a normal fan and I don't find the sound to be annoying.
